THANK YOU, IAU PROFESSORS: Teaching is not just a profession—it is an act of generosity.
As the year comes to an end and Christmas approaches, I wanted to take a moment to express something that often goes unsaid during the rush of deadlines, exams, and responsibilities: THANK YOU.
Thank you not only for your lectures, your feedback, and your academic rigor, but for the countless invisible efforts that make a real difference in students’ lives. Behind every class, every corrected paper, and every office hour, there is time, patience, and genuine dedication that many of us may not fully recognize in the moment—but that we carry with us long after.
University life is demanding, often overwhelming, and sometimes lonely. In those moments, your guidance, encouragement, and belief in the value of knowledge have meant more than you may realize. You have challenged your students to think more deeply, to question more honestly, and to grow not only as students, but as people.
Teaching is not just a profession—it is an act of generosity. You share your knowledge, your experience, and your passion, even when the work is exhausting and the recognition is scarce. For that, I am profoundly grateful.
As Christmas arrives, I hope this season brings you rest, warmth, and the appreciation you so truly deserve. May you find joy in knowing that your work matters, that it leaves a lasting impact, and that it shapes futures in ways that cannot always be measured by grades or syllabi.
Thank you for everything you do, and for everything you are.
I wish you a peaceful, joyful Christmas and a new year filled with health, fulfillment, and hope.
With sincere gratitude,
George (Jorge) Monray
