John Carlin at IAU
I am pleased to see that one of my microeconomics classrooms at IAU/ACM is being utilized by Dr. Ignasi Perez and John Carlin. As Dr. Ignasi Perez stated: "We were honored this Wednesday, September 10, to welcome John Carlin, acclaimed journalist, author, and Doctor Honoris Causa of The American College of the Mediterranean, to deliver a special welcome talk to students from Howard University here at IAU Barcelona". John Carlin is best known for "Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game that Made a Nation", the book behind the movie "Invictus", among many other works that explore how politics, sport, and storytelling intersect. His lecture brought Mandela's story to life through personal anecdotes and reflections, offering students unique lessons on courage, reconciliation, and the power of humanity in politics and society. Thank you to the Howard University students who attended and contributed to the discussion, and a heartfelt thank you to John Carlin for sharing your expertise and inspiring our community. Events like this remind us why studying abroad is not just about discovering new places; it's about expanding perspectives. I keep on saying the same: IAU and ACM always go beyond knowledge and education. We are what we teach. Bravo IAU!!!!
