Country patterns and effects on the ease of doing business and competitiveness: a global study.
RESEARCH PUBLISHED IN 2018. This research investigates how various country-specific factors influence the ease of doing business (EDB) across 166 nations. By analyzing data from 2010 to 2015, the study identifies national income and geographical region as the most significant predictors of a country's regulatory environment. While factors like economic freedom and perceived corruption also show statistical relevance, they possess a much smaller impact on business variability than a nation's wealth or location. The author suggests that higher-income countries generally establish more efficient business frameworks, and regional proximity often leads to harmonized regulations among neighboring states. Ultimately, the findings advise managers to prioritize economic and regional contexts over other indicators when assessing the attractiveness of international markets.
